Episode 116

There’s something to be said for staying positive and focusing on the core elements of what we view as success in our life. It can be how the mind sees success in the external; career, connections, and relationships, as well as how the heart and spirit connects with the way success feels in regard to these same aspects.

When we view life from a perspective of appreciation and gratitude, and feel into the joy of a creative expression or path, it builds an emotional flow that helps us stay open to possibilities and opportunities. It also helps us keep an open mind to what shows up in our life, and manage it confidently.

However, we often don’t look or think about the counter point to success. Is it failure? A set-back? Poor timing? Insight to move in a different direction? Most importantly, we don’t define for ourselves what it really means to fail at personal level, and how it’s tied to our stories, patterns, and belief system, or have the ability to put self-judgement aside when things don’t go as planned.

In these circumstances, the mind and heart can get a bit confused and personalize the experience. Instead of seeing the situation as unsuccessful, we blame ourselves and make it mean mean we have failed, or are less than.

On the latest episode of the Flirting With Enlightenment podcast, I explore the elements of how we create our personal standards of success and failure, and offer ways to shift mindset around the “right” way to be successful or fail along our path. I also touch on understanding our personal value system, and how it influences what we want, and see, as success and failure.

In addition, I share insights on how we view, feel into, and deal with failure allows us to explore some pretty powerful things, and is a great self learning tool. Instead of using it as a mechanism to beat ourselves up or prove why our ideas and actions aren’t worthy, we can see our version of “failure” as a way to rethink WHY we have created the failure standards we hold so dear, and if they still make sense for us now.

Clarity on these aspects helps us avoid “personalizing” experiences, or seeing them as a representation of our personal value or worth when they don’t quite work out as expected.

Building awareness around our personal success and failure framework helps us build a realistic path towards what makes us happy to create a better balance between being, doing, and feeling into what we are really guided to create and do in this lifetime.
