The intention behind new year’s resolutions can feel very clear and powerful when we first create them. We have drive, focus and devoted energy. Then, as we begin to encounter obstacles, distractions and maybe a little bit of guilt, a sense of doubt begins to creep in around what we’ve set out to do.

It’s easy to feel like giving up after a few missteps or broken expectations. However, these little bumps offer a perfect opportunity to tweak “resolutions” and turn them into intentions. This helps us realign with the true energy of what we want to create, or where the universe is guiding us next.

One of the most common challenges with using only the new year’s time frame to create resolutions is that our mindset is often focused around what isn’t working from the year before. So, we try and take a negative and turn it into a positive, without paying attention to the attachment energy we are putting around the intentions we set or re-set.

In the latest episode of the Flirting With Enlightenment podcast, Jamie and I each share mindful ways to realign with the true energy behind what we really want out of new year’s resolutions, and use them as a way to connect with inner guidance as we intentionally live into them.

Our state of mind when we craft an intention sets the stage for how we align with the energy of it. Grounded, clear resolutions can succeed, when we allow the universe to show us what’s next while remaining flexible and focused on trusting ourselves and divine guidance. This is where self-care practices and having a sacred space you connect with daily can be very helpful in keeping your heart open and ready for change as it comes.
