Episode 122
Listen to “Releasing What We Believe About What We Deserve – Both The Good and Bad” on Spreaker.
When it comes to exploring what we deserve, it’s never a simple answer.
Colored by past experiences, opinions of family and friends, the perception of our self worth, and a variety of fears, getting to the heart of what we feel we deserve is a puzzle we slowly put together over time. As we figure it all out, we can get stuck on perceptions and “shoulds”, which also impact what we feel we, or others, deserve.
Yet what we deserve doesn’t reflect our “goodness or badness”, or make logical sense. Most of the time, it feels arbitrary in either direction. For example, after a ton of hard work what we desire may still be still out of grasp, or we may step into good fortune seamlessly based on nothing but a “gut feeling” it will all work out. Either way, it can all feel a bit “fated”.
The truth behind it all is that HOW we think about what we deserve, both the good and bad, is what gets us hung up. The mindset we’ve created around deserving runs the show, especially if we don’t take the time to dig into the “why” behind our values and beliefs around it.
On the latest episode of The Flirting With Enlightenment podcast, I talk about the energy of deserving, and how the structure we’ve created in our mind from a young age around our right to deserve, or not deserve, plays a huge role in our life experience. Often we need to release a lot of feelings, perceptions, and fears around what we deserve before we can create a personal neutrality around it as a concept, or in other words, not labeling an outcome as good or bad.
When we can show up with a neutral energy around deserving, our clarity and understanding can become a useful tool that alerts us of our attachment to an idea or outcome. Then, through the self discovery process, we can work on dismantling the beliefs and hidden attachments in order to live a more full, authentic self expression confidently.
