Episode 123
Listen to “Flirting With Enlightenment”
There is no way around it; when change occurs we are also changed within the self, and we are facing with the accepting or ignoring the inner awareness change brings.
How we view the world, what we are willing to accept or deny for ourselves, and the limitations we see or bust through are all part of this awareness and what it illuminates.
At the same time, we are also invited to see our habits around tuning into change, and the ways it impacts our mind and heart.
In essence, we have three choices:
- Review change in hindsight and accept the lessons that we can, now that see with more clarity
- Lead with an expectant mind and jump into the future, creating expectation, anticipation, and “potential” fears
- Do what we can to stay present with change and the opportunity it’s offering
At any given time we are in one of these three states. One isn’t better than the other; they simply show us where we are in terms of processing thoughts and emotions, and owning our truth.
However, staying present is so powerful as it lets us honor change for what it is – momentary. Then we are able to feel into, release, understand and process our feelings around it, learn, change, build new habits etc. And each of these “side effects” are what creates the lasting impact, changing us at our core.
On this episode of the Flirting With Enlightenment podcast, I talk about the dynamics of how external and internal change play off each other throughout life, and the opportunities that come from it. I also share insights on the inner awareness change brings. Each change shows us something new and different, but ultimately offers us to advocate for more, less, or to practice being open and neutral to the emotional reactions that arise.
There’s something very powerful about embracing change without knowing where it’s taking you exactly, and understanding how the power of staying present helps us build skills to always stay connected to the truth in our heart and soul.
