Episode 119

Listen to “The Roots of Why We Overanalyze and Tips to Stop It”.

To overanalyze is to be human. We all do it a little; even when we don’t want to admit it or are trying our damnedest not too. So why is it so dang compelling?

Well, the mind loves a good riddle as a distraction from dealing with gooey feelings, and likes being in control. Those are two very powerful motivators to try to keep us in line by over thinking – a lot.

When we feel untethered, uncertain, or are trying to do “all the right things” in order to keep life neat and tidy, we are in a space of not knowing what might happen. And that’s pretty scary stuff to the ego and the mind, which is looking for safety and security as a general rule. Thus, why it’s so easy to fall back on habits that helps us drift back into overanalyze territory.

What the mind doesn’t realize is that no matter how much we try to overanalyze and strategize life from every angle, there will always be surprises we haven’t planned for or can’t fix with a snap of the finger.

The power we do have, and often underestimate in ourselves, is our ability to find the patterns that keep us thinking small or clinging to fear, and practice how to work with them instead of fighting them.

Noticing Ways We Overanalyze and Amping Up Deep Listening Plus Self Care

On this episode of the Flirting With Enlightenment podcast, I talk about key roots of why we overanalyze our choices, thoughts, and ideas, and sometimes get in our own way when it comes to creating the life we want.

I also offer tips on how to stop overanalyzing at every turn and embrace a more open heart to life, even if every part of us wants to let the mind run through every worst case scenario over and over. When we are diving into the heart of our overanalyzing habits and behaviors and thinking the worst, it leads to self blame, judgment, and victim thinking, so let’s focus on how to shift a habit into a more positive mindset and path forward!
